Our castle hotel is located between Győr and Mosonmagyaróvár, about 85 km from Vienna-Airport and 160 km from Budapest. The carefully restored Renaissance castle is one of the most imposing castle hotels in Hungary, with an accentuated historical ambience.
Héderváry Castle is made unique by its 14 rooms and 4 suites equipped with antique furniture and ancient Persian carpets, its 21 acres wooded parkland, its hunter room from the 19th Century, its Baroque salon called "Sala Terrena" decorated with frescos, and the Baroque chapel of the Héderváry family. The English park is embellished by centuries-old trees from American magnolia to Chinese gingko trees.
Guests who would like not to relax but to hold meetings can choose among the country's oldest conference rooms: the Hunter Room with Empire stove and chandeliers (for 34-90 persons), the Renaissance library (for 50-80 persons), the Viczay Conference Room disposing of technical equipment for all needs (for 34-90 persons) or the Sala Terrena (for 10-15 persons). But the centuries-old vaulted wine-cellar can also serve as an excellent event venue. And those who would rather have a fine cigar in a cosy environment are awaited by the Cigar Room or the one-time Weapon Room with its cherry-tree parquet.
The castle's cuisine is something really worth mentioning. The waiters' moderate courtesy makes guests have the feeling that they are the Count of Hédervár themselves. In the elegant restaurant called "a Grófnál" ("at the Count's") you can select from a wide range of gourmandishes.
Héderváry Castle is cordially awaiting its guests. This fabulous castle is an ideal venue for conferences, partner meetings, family events but we are entirely at anyone's service with special weekday and weekend offers as well.
The history of the castle
"Wolfger came from Germany with Henrik, his younger brother - both counts of Hainburg - and three hundred knights in armour. Prince Géza gave them the hill of Küszén and the island beside Győr as their eternal dwellings, where he built a castle, and also had a monastery constructed on that hill, where he is buried. It is from them that the Héder clan is originated."
